AMALI NISANSALA PERERA



Displaying inborn instinct and talent as a dancer from a very tender age, AMALI NISANSALA PERERA the only daughter of Sepala Perera and Padma Kanthi Perera of kalutara, Sri Lanka, was awarded a scholarship by the  Indian  Government to the Bhatkhande music University in Lucknow, India in 2004.
Having qualified further with a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Bharata Natyam with a First Division and a Master of Music in Dance from the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. For having scored the highest marks she was awarded a “Gold Medal” for her unique performance at the said exam.
She also received a First Division when she awarded the Visharad Diploma in Bharata Natyam, Kathak and Manipuri by the Bhathkhande Sangeet Vidyapith, Lucknow, India.
With her expertise and mastery of the intricate forms of Kandyan and Low Country dancing in Sri Lanka and the Bharata Natyam, kathak and  Manipuri dance forms in India,this versatile young dancer has always kept her audiences enthralled and spellbound, whenever she played the leading roles in various Dance Recitals and Dance Dramas in many leading towns in Sri Lanka and India, and even Australia.
She discharged her services in voluntary capacity in teaching dancing to the children with special needs at Sukitha Children Home Kalutara, Sri Lanka.
She served as a Lecturer in Bharatnatyam at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
 At present she follows Ph.D in Dance at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India.
She remains ever grateful to her teachers for their guidance and kindness helping her to reach the highest level of attainment in her chosen field. Her belief is to inspire people by giving them hope, joy and happiness through appreciation of the natural and graceful beauty, simplicity and charm of Classical Music and Pure Dance Forms. In the hope that individuals would have better understanding and thus form and build a society, which in turn would help each nation to help each other, to transforms people to live in peace and harmony in the whole world.
In order to promote her objective, she has initiated her own Academy of Dancing named “AMALI NISANSALA KALA NIKETAN”

  • Presented her First Performance at the age of six on Sarangi Dance Recital, conducted by the Sarangi Dancing Academy, Kalutara,(1991)

  • Has played numerous key roles in most of the Dance Dramas and Dance Recitals, “Nupura Rawaya”, “Sanchari”, “Nritya Rasanjalee”, “Swarna Thilaka”, “Bhakti Pranama”,”Ranga Dhara”, “Nritya Prasadini” presented by the Miranda Hemalatha Kala Ashramaya, Colombo (1992-2002)

  • Performed “Arangetram” in Bharata Natyam  (Maiden Performance) at the Elphinstone  Theater Colombo, in the year 2000.

  • Toured Australia representing Sri Lanka winning acclamation (2001)

  • Performed “Kala Eli Mangalya” (First Performance) in Kandyan Dancing (Sri Lankan Classical Dance Form) at “Bellanwila  Raja Maha Viharaya”(Temple)  Colombo, in the year 2001.

  • Presented Solo Dance Recitals “Nupura Rawaya” at Town Hall Theatre, Kalutara (2003), “Pabasarie” at Elphinstone Theatre, Colombo (2004), “Nisansalavie” at ICCR Colombo (2009),      Elphinstone Theatre, Colombo(2010), and Town Hall Theatre,Kalutara (2011).

In India

  • Performed diverse Dance Recitals, “Holly Festival”, “Lucknow Mahotsav”, “Holly Mahotsav Music Function” conducted by the Bhatkhande Music University, Lucknow(2004-2007)

  • Played various major roles in Dance Recitals, “Acharya Smriti Samaroha”, “Bhasant Panchami”, “Spandan”(Inter Faculty Youth Festival), “Shivrathri Mahotsav”, “Alluminamet”, “Faculty Day Celebration”, “Teachers Day Celebration”, “National Seminar” at Commerce Faculty/Arts Faculty, “International Seminar” at Faculty of Performing Arts, “Elixir-09” …. conducted by the  Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi(2007-2009/2012).

  • Presented many Dance Recitals and Dance Dramas, directed by Prof. Sri. Premchand Hombal “Jhansi Mahotsav”, Jhansi (2007) “Triveni Mahotsav”, Allahbad(2008), , “Angulimala Nataka”, Varanasi(2009), “Shatabdi Mahotsav ”, Varanasi(2009) and also played a leading role in her portrayal of “Rani Laxmi Bai” in the Dance Drama “RANA CHANDI”, was appreciated by one and all.
